As the late, great Roy Salvadori once opined: "Give me Goodwood on a summer's day and you can keep the rest of the world".
Well, with the kids back at school and the leaves starting to carpet the ground, Summer's starting to make itself scarce, and given the torrential downpour which heralded the start of proceedings here at Goodwood, it's a reminder that the Revival is very much an end of Summer hurrah.
But rain or shine, the Revival is still the foremost historic event for those of us for whom the tang of Castrol R evokes such powerful emotions and for the next couple of days the rest of the world can take a backseat as we once again embark on a journey back to the days of the aforementioned Salvadori, Moss, Clark, Stewart et al.
As I'm writing this, the rain has eased considerably and whilst the Sun is still somewhat conspicuous by its absence, it's definitely brightening up so hopefully the weather gods are smiling upon us.
Stay tuned to UKMT - we're here all weekend gathering the sights and sounds of this unique event and hopefully, we won't be needing the brollies..
